A celadon-glazed relief-decorated archaistic vase carrying the Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period (circa 1736-1795) sold for $1.445 million at a sale of Fine Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art held March 20-21 by Christie’s in New York City. Also, a celadon-glazed relief-decorated baluster vase with the Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period (circa 1736-1795) made $1.2 million; and a pair of 17th or 18th century Zitan horseshoe-back armchairs (Quanyi) changed hands for $1.085 million. Prices include a 12 percent buyer’s premium.
