A circa 1900 Chefoo Bank $2 issued private banknote sold for $8,430 at an auction held May 24 by Archives International Auctions in Hong Kong, China. Also, a 1910 Russo-Asiatic Bank Harbin Branch provisional issue $100 banknote hammered for $6,896; an Imperial Bank of China 1898 Peking Branch 10 Taels note realized $4,904; a 1919 American-Oriental Banking Corp. $100 Shanghai Branch issue specimen commanded $4,291; and a Mercantile Bank of India 1937 issue banknote for $10 rose to $4,598. Prices include an 18 percent buyer’s premium.
