A running curlew decoy made circa 1880s by Thomas Gelston (Long Island, N.Y.) sold for $258,750 at an annual Summer Auction held July 28-29 by Guyette & Deeter, Inc. (based in St. Michaels, Md.) at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, N.H. Also, a one-of-a-kind feeding yellowlegs by Elmer Crowell flew away for $103,500; a rare hollow carved merganser, made circa 1860s by Charles Osgood, fetched $89,125; and a scarce feeding Canada goose by John Tax gaveled for $86,250. Prices include a 10 percent buyer’s premium.
