On the Road to… New Hampshire

On the Road to... New Hampshire

For many collectors of antiques, it seems that the whole cult began in the state of New Hampshire.
For more than 150 years, devotees of the history of American culture have been heading to the Granite State to load their wagons with treasured artifacts of times past. The notion of the little shop tucked away on a country lane, with mountains in the distance and the coffee pot on the wood stove, triggers the heart of the collector to hit the road.
Although the artifacts have become scarcer, the quest continues, and the state prides itself on the many active antiques dealers who make their homes here. Dealers who sell from a private barn or home in the rural countryside still exist, side-by-side with the growing number of group shops, where dealers combine in a large space and set up room settings and showcases. The many group shops in New Hampshire serve to make lots of good antiques available with a minimum of miles to cover.
Whatever your particular passion, New Hampshire is a great place to antique, and NH Antiques Dealers Association is the heart of the antiques trade in New Hampshire.

Start Your Week with a Great Antique at MidWeek

Barn Star Productions takes pride in announcing their MidWeek Antiques Show, August 4 & 5, 2015, celebrating its twenty second year as the first exciting, fully indoor show of Antiques Week in New Hampshire.
Presenting over 65 exhibitors in room setting displays, MidWeek dealers have set aside special pieces for this show and at prices that reflect current market values for period antiques, folk art and decorative arts where quality and value enhance your collection.
“MidWeek is not only the show that launched Antiques Week in New Hampshire, but also set the bar higher for quality exhibitors and displays, customer service, innovative special show exhibits and hands on management. This year’s show in Concord will present two new special show features adding to your MidWeek experience and interest,” comments Frank Gaglio, President of Barn Star Productions.
While Americana and folk art are two strong collector desires at MidWeek, expanding the show offerings will keep you interested and intrigued as well as attracts a fresh new audience of attendees and potential buyers.
The show dates are Tuesday, August 4 from 1PM till 6PM and Wednesday, August 5 from 10AM till 5PM. and is located at the Douglas Everett Arena, 15 Loudon Road, Concord, NH just 20 minutes north of Manchester on Route 93 (Exit 14). About the NH Antiques Dealers Association
The New Hampshire Antiques Dealers Association (NHADA) is one of the largest antiques organizations of its kind, with nearly 300 in-state and out-of-state members dedicated to integrity and courtesy in their business dealings and to an awareness and appreciation of articles of antique value.
The NHADA began with an enthusiastic small group of dealers who met at the Long Meadow Inn in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in the early 1950s.  The aim of the group was to “elevate and maintain the standards of the antique [sic] business in New Hampshire, to increase general public awareness and appreciation of articles of antique value, to promote the best interests of all phases of antique dealing,” and dues were $5.00.
Today the association has just under 300 members who endorse these same early objectives and traditions while finding themselves at the forefront of a much larger business.  The NHADA also sponsors the New Hampshire Antiques Show, which features over sixty-five of the countryís finest antiques dealers. From its humble beginnings, NHADA is now one of the most respected dealer organizations in the country.
