32nd Annual Antique Photo & Postcard Shows Collaborates with Quinn’s Auction Galleries

ARLINGTON, VA…
A second consecutive year collaboration was announced today between the 32nd Annual Spring D.C. Antique Photo and Postcards Show held annually at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn, 1900 N. Ft. Myer Dr., Arlington, VA, and Waverly Rare Books, a division of Quinn’s Auction Galleries, 360 S. Washington St., Falls Church, VA.
The announcement was made jointly by Show Manager Tom Rall and Waverly Director Monika Schiavo, who hope to attract customers to both the Sunday, March 15 show and a Waverly Auction, 6 p.m. next Thursday, March 5—both of which feature historic antique photographs.
“We hope to reach both show customers and exhibitors, many of whom we met last year while previewing lots for a post-show auction;” said Schiavo. “We hope they’ll bid at our online catalog and I’ll personally arrange to deliver purchased lots for free to winners at the show hotel the following weekend.
“Of course we also hope local show customers and exhibitors will attend our auction previews in person,” Schiavo continued. These begin 10-2 tomorrow and continue 10-7 Monday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. until the auction begins Thursday.
Several dozen lots of antique 19th Century photography will kick off the book auction slate. Included are daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, Cartes de Visite (CDVs), tintype, albumen, and silver gelatin photographic processes—many of the latter in original albums and the former in original cases.
The auction contains a wide range of interesting images, including both Union and Confederate Civil War Soldiers; English and European Royalty, Native and African Americans, post mortems, Asian photos and many more.
The DC Antique Photo and Postcard Shows open with an 8:30 AM $25 preview admission and continue 10 AM to 4 PM with a $10 public admission, which also allows admission to the postcard show at 8:30. After 1p.m. students with ID will be admitted free. The hotel is walking distance from Georgetown and only one block from the Rosslyn station on Metro’s orange and blue lines.  Parking is free.
The 32-year old photo show is in its seventh year of management by Diverse Markets Management, a D.C. company. The related postcard show was added in 2012.
