A 1956 Aston Martin DBR1 racing car sold for $22.55 million at an auction held Aug. 18-19 by RM Auctions/Sotheby’s in Monterey, Calif. It was a new world auction record for a British car at auction. Also, a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta sped off for $8.3 million; a 1959 Aston Martin  DB4GT prototype knocked down at $6.765 million; a 1955 Ferrari 121 LM Spider changed hands for $5.72 million; and a 1959 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Series III coupe hit $5.335 million. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
