1936 Martin D18 guitar to highlight Donley’s Vintage Music Auction

A 1936 Martin D18 guitar, consigned by the grandson of the original owner, will take center stage at Donley Auctions’ March 18 Vintage Music Auction.
Auctioneer Randy Donley is promising this auction will have something for everyone. “We have combined the collections of Fred Plank and Wayne Cook and added other smaller collections and items of interest.” Donley states. “In the past, our auctions have mainly focused on wind-up phonographs and music boxes but we have broadened the interest range for this one. You can buy anything from an Edison cylinder phonograph to an electric guitar and everything in between.”
Included in the auction will be 100 wind-up phonographs, 100’s of cylinder and 78 rpm records, music boxes, band organs, a Hammond B2 organ, 24 band autographed electric guitars from Austin’s Saloon, vintage violins, banjos, and other musical instruments, as well as the 1936 Martin D18 guitar. Another highlight of the auction will be Ikey Robinson’s Bell Star tenor banjo.  Robinson was a famous jazz banjoist who recorded on Brunswick & Decca in the 1920’s & 30’s.
The auction will be held Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at Donley Auctions 8512 S. Union Road, Union, IL 60180. The auction preview will be on Friday, March 17th from noon until 8 pm. The entire auction catalog can be viewed at www.DonleyAuctions.com after March 5th. For more information and to consign to future auctions contact Randy Donley at 815.790.9435.
