An 18th century French sheathed corkscrew dating to the Louis XVI period sold for $17,000 in an international online auction held in April by CollectorCorkscrews.com. Also, an 18th century French sheathed fish handle corkscrew finished at $4,300; an 18th century silver combination corkscrew and nutmeg grater changed hands for $4,600; and an American-made 20th century corkscrew incorporating the Walker “bell” and made by Walker Mfg. (Erie, Pa.) made $480. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
