Astley Cooper painting, $9,600, Crescent City

An original oil painting by Astley Cooper (American, 1856-1924), titled Seduction of Danae, circa 1885-1890, sold for $9,500 at an Important Estates Auction held Nov. 7-8 by Crescent City Auction Gallery in New Orleans, LA.

Also, an original oil on board painting by the renowned Louisiana folk artist Clementine Hunter (1887-1988), titled Zinnias, fetched $8,960; and a 5-piece George Jensen style La Paglia sterling silver tea and coffee service in the Blossom pattern made $5,120.
