Outdoor markets managed by Diverse Markets Management (DMM) continued to make news this month-both in local recognition and ramping up for new seasons!
Despite its smaller size due to development on its previous site, The Flea Market at Eastern Market was still named Best Flea Market 2016 by readers voting in the annual City Paper Best of DC Reader Poll and The Downtown Holiday Market was voted runner-up to the venerable Smithsonian Craft Show in the Best Arts Festival category.
“We’re obviously pleased to be recognized for our many years hard work both managing and promoting these markets,” said DMM President Michael Berman. One reader aptly sums up the Flea as “Consistent enough that you know what to expect each weekend, but still enough variety to find new items.”
The Flea Market at Eastern Market is now in its 33rd year of operation, Sundays on Capitol Hill, and The Downtown Holiday Market is expected to celebrate its 12th season on F Street between 7th and 9th Streets NW beginning on “Black Friday” in November. Advertised hours for the flea, located on 7th St. SE across Pennsylvania Ave, SE from the Eastern Market station on Metro’s Orange, Blue and Silver lines; are 10 am to 5 pm every Sunday.
