The 1936 Oscar statuette awarded to art director Richard Day for his work on the 1935 film The Dark Angel sold for $50,000 at an auction held October 10^th by Grant Zahajko Auctions in Davenport, Wash. Also, an authenticated autographed photo of Babe Ruth from the 1942 film The Pride of the Yankees was a hit for $11,250; a photo of Hollywood’s first Chinese-American film star, Anna May Wong, brought $1,000; and a copy of the book 50 Golden Years of Oscar rose to $12,500. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
