An Aetna Insurance Company reverse glass painted sign with mother of pearl inlay, 34 inches square and in excellent condition, sold for $51,300 at an auction held April 4-6 by Showtime Auction Services (based in Woodhaven, Mich.) in Ann Arbor, Mich. Also, an El Bart Gin tin sign, housed in the original frame and copyrighted in 1905 also realized $51,300; a Hires Root Beer dispenser, the green version, hit $49,200; and a 1928 Ford Model A bright red fire hose and ladder truck with accessories sped off for $31,200. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
