A rare, first edition copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, one of only 500 original copies, sold for $81,250 at a Rare Books Auction held September 14th by Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Tex. Also, a first edition copy of History of the Indian Tribes of North America by Thomas L. McKenney and James Hall realized $66,250; and a John James Audubon original copper printing plate from The Birds of America (Robert Havell, engraver) hammered for $62,500. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
