Results of Recent Auctions From Near and Far

A Navajo Ute-style First Phase chief’s wearing blanket sold for $132,000 at a three-session auction held April 25th by John Moran Auctioneers in Monrovia, Calif. Also, an abstracted dragon in lacquer on panel by the Japanese artist Shiryu Morita (1912-1999) went for $84,000; a Pablo Picasso for Madoura art pottery pitcher, titled Femme de Barbu, topped out at $25,000; and a sculpture by Richard MacDonald (Calif., b. 1946), titled Trumpeter Draped, rose to $9,600. Prices include a 20 percent buyer’s premium.
