A 1963 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl three-piece drum kit used by Ringo Starr in more than 200 performances as drummer for the Beatles between May 1963 and Feb. 1964, as well as on many hit recordings, sold for $2.2 million at a sale of the collection of Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach held Dec. 3-5 by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, Calif. The buyer was Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay. Also, Starr’s UK #1 White album fetched $790,000; and his Patek Philippe wristwatch changed hands for $179,200. Prices include a 20 percent buyer’s premium.
