Art Deco Society Presents Online Lecture on Erté Costumes

NEW YORK, N.Y. — September, 2026 —

The Art Deco Society of New York presents a live online lecture titled “Costumes by Erté: From Paris Couture to Broadway Revues and Hollywood Glamour” on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. Fashion historian Summer Anne Lee will guide attendees through the sweeping career of Erté, born Romain de Tirtoff, whose extraordinary contributions to costume design and fashion illustration made him one of the most recognized artistic figures of the twentieth century.

Erté’s career began under the tutelage of legendary couturier Paul Poiret, and his subsequent work for the theater, music halls, and Hollywood productions cemented his status as a master of visual spectacle. His magazine covers for leading fashion publications of the early and mid-twentieth century brought his sinuous, jewel-toned aesthetic to a global audience, and his influence on Art Deco design remains as strong today as it was during his most prolific decades.

Registrants who are unable to attend the live Zoom presentation will receive a full recording of the program within a few days of the event, allowing collectors, designers, and enthusiasts to view the lecture at their convenience.
