Gavels and Paddles Results of Recent Auctions From Around the World A jewel-encrusted Mughal dagger (Northern India, rare Kanhjar form, circa 18th /19th century) sold for $314,500 at an auction held September 14-16 by Rago Arts & Auction Center in Lambertville, NJ. Also, a lot consisting of George T. Downing abolitionist papers hammered for $20,000; an Alfred Boucher figural bronze sculpture titled Au But fetched $20,000; a 19th century European genre, oil on panel of a market scene, went for $17,500; a Chinese porcelain jardinière hit $25,000; and a bronze rooster hit $9,375. Prices include a 25 percent buyer’s premium.
