Douglass, KS — September 2026 — Woody Auction will present an American Brilliant Cut Glass auction on Saturday, September 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Central Time. Bidding will be available live at Woody’s hall at 130 East 3rd Street in Douglass, Kansas, as well as online through LiveAuctioneers and bid.woodyauction.com.
The auction’s standout lot is a pair of five-light American Brilliant Cut Glass candelabra known in collecting circles as “The Liberace.” Measuring 20 by 14 by 14 inches and featuring a well-cut hobstar and swirled prism motif, the pair is estimated at $2,500-$5,000. Liberace’s finest single example of ABCG was a candelabra in this identical form, documented on page 63 of the 1988 Liberace Collection Auction catalog; the pair in this sale shares that same form, with double the presence.
Among the most exceptional examples in the sale is a three-part ABCG vase in the Empress pattern by Quaker City, 28 and three-quarter inches tall and described as nearly flawless, with great size and cutting and an excellent blank. It is estimated at $2,500-$4,000.
An ABCG vase in the Rose Diamond pattern by Meriden, 12 inches tall and weighing 5.3 pounds, features a step-cut neck and hobstar base and carries a pre-sale estimate of $1,500-$3,000.
An ABCG novelty three-piece lamp, 21 and a half inches tall with a hobstar, cane, prism, and fan motif, is estimated at $750-$2,000. Two Brilliant Period Cut Glass rock crystal decanters, each 14 and three-quarter inches tall and featuring a finely engraved tropical bird and floral design with pattern-engraved stoppers, are estimated at $750-$1,500.
Further highlights include an ABCG demijohn jug, 16 and a quarter inches tall with a well-cut hobstar, vesica, cane, crosscutting, and star motif, estimated at $1,000-$1,600; a round Libbey tray in the Marcella pattern, 10 inches in diameter and from the Mitchell Caughman Collection, estimated at $1,000-$1,600; and an ABCG round tray, 14 and a half inches in diameter from the Robert H. Meyer Estate Collection, estimated at $750-$1,500.
Also in the sale: an ABCC bowl in the Waldorf pattern by Clark, 9 and a quarter inches in diameter and weighing 4.6 pounds, estimated at $750-$1,200; and an ABCG two-part pedestal punch bowl, 13 and three-quarter by 12 by 12 inches and weighing 20.2 pounds, estimated at $650-$1,000.
