Bonhams has announced the successful conclusion of its online sale, Property from the Attics of a Residence in Kérkyra, which realised a total of €288,922, achieving 100% sold by value and 86.43% sold by lot. The auction, held September 1-10, 2026, drew strong international bidding across European decorative arts and Asian works of art, with numerous lots far exceeding their pre-sale estimates.

Leading the sale was a circular gilt-bronze surtout de table attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire, dating from the first half of the 19th century, which achieved €14,080 against a pre-sale estimate of €3,000-5,000. An important gilt and patinated-bronze centrepiece from the early 19th century followed at €8,960, against an estimate of €2,000-4,000. Timepieces also performed strongly, with a Pallas Athena mantel clock attributed to Gérard-Jean Galle, circa 1820, realising €7,680, and a Louis XVI style gilt-bronze clock depicting The Study, the dial signed Julien Leroy, selling for €7,040.
Among the most dramatic results of the sale were the Asian works of art. A celadon-glazed porcelain vase from the Yuan or early Ming dynasty achieved €7,680 against an estimate of just €500-600, and a large Chinese covered porcelain vase from the 19th century matched that figure, surpassing its estimate of €500-800 by a comparable margin. Further highlights included a patinated-bronze oil lamp with allegory of The Study after Louis-Simon Boizot at €5,888, a large 19th-century gilt-bronze bowl supported by three-winged sphinxes at €5,376, an Empire gilt-bronze mantel clock depicting Paris by Denière at €4,864, and a pair of Empire patinated and gilt-bronze buires by André-Antoine Ravrio at €4,608, double its high estimate.
Hubert Felbacq, Head of the Classics Department at Bonhams in Paris, noted that the auction illustrated the strength of the current market for exceptional private collections, citing fierce competition for the top lots as confirmation that collectors remain eager to acquire rare objects with impeccable provenance and fresh market appeal. The results reinforce the continued vitality of the single-owner sale format when paired with quality property and distinguished collecting history.
