Bertoia Automobilia Sale Draws Strong Results from Bausch Collection

Bertoia Auctions concluded its highly anticipated Automobilia Sale on August 28, offering 550 lots online and live at the gallery in Vineland, N.J. The sale drew from the celebrated David Bausch collection, an exceptional assemblage spanning more than a century of automotive history, advertising, and design.

Leading all results was a hand-painted polychrome sculpture by noted automotive artist Stanley Wanlass, which realized $34,800. The piece exemplified the artistic ambition that has made automobilia a serious collecting category, blending fine art with the romance of early motoring culture.

A handsome 1929 Franklin Series 11 automobile came in as the second top lot, selling for $13,200 and drawing strong interest from collectors of vintage vehicles. Rounding out the top three results was a service station sign for Franklin Motor Cars, which brought $10,200, reflecting continued collector demand for period petroliana and automotive advertising.
