Wright to Auction the Lowell and Diane Fixler Collection on September 15

Works by Marino Marini, Olga de Amaral, Andy Warhol, Ruth Duckworth, and Richard Hunt highlight a Chicago sale of the Fixler Collection on September 15.

Chicago, IL — September 2026 — Rago/Wright will present Pushing Boundaries: The Lowell and Diane Fixler Collection on September 15 at 11 a.m. Central in Chicago. Assembled across decades, the collection spans painting, sculpture, ceramics, textile art, and works on paper, unified by the Fixlers’ focus on scale, material, figuration, and abstraction. A New York preview exhibition takes place at 501 West 20th Street, Monday through Friday from 11 to 5, September 3-15.

Three works lead the sale at estimates of $400,000-600,000 each: Marino Marini’s Composizione, a significant sculptural work by the Italian modernist; Olga de Amaral’s Segmento 4, a major textile piece by the Colombian artist; and de Amaral’s Cesta lunar 12 / Moonbasket 12, a second work from her moon basket series. Andy Warhol’s Chanel, from the Ads portfolio, is estimated at $180,000-220,000.

Among the ceramics and works on paper, Jun Kaneko’s Untitled (Dango) is estimated at $40,000-60,000; Ruth Duckworth’s Untitled and Richard Hunt’s Windswept each carry estimates of $30,000-50,000; Roy Lichtenstein’s The Student, from the Expressionist Woodcut Series, is estimated at $20,000-30,000; David Hockney’s Big Celia Print #2 is estimated at $18,000-24,000; Betty Woodman’s Pillow Pitcher: Portrait is estimated at $15,000-20,000; and Rudy Autio’s Untitled (Horse and Figures) is estimated at $6,000-8,000.
