Jonah and the Whale bank

A Jonah and the Whale cast-iron mechanical bank by J. & E. Stevens, the original pedestal version, sold for $312,500 at an auction held August 3rd by RSL Auction Company in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Also, a circa 1870 Charles hose reel carriage, once called “the world’s most recognized antique toy,” took top lot honors with a final selling price of $325,000; and a Kyser & Rex Co. Merry-Go-Round bank dating from the mid-1880s went to a determined bidder for $312,500.
