Space Explorer rover toy, $30,000, Bertoia Auctions

A Linemar friction-powered Space Explorer rover, near-mint with very crisp box, sold for $30,000 at an Annual Fall Auction held Nov. 17-18 by Bertoia Auctions in Vineland, NJ. Also, a Hubley cast-iron Fire Engine House, one of two known, in pristine condition, fetched $31,200; a Shepard Hardware Co., Mason (bricklayer) cast-iron mechanical bank made $18,000; and a Hubley three-dimensional cast-iron Giraffe doorstop, 13 inches tall, found a new owner for $18,000.
