A previously unrecorded copy of the first issue of Shakespeare’s Third Folio, titled Mr. William Shakespeares Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies, published in London (1663), sold for $121,150 at a Fine Printed Books & Manuscripts and Americana auction held November 13th by Freeman’s in Chicago.
Also, a copy of William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury (N.Y., 1929) realized $15,360; and a copy of Somerset Maugham’s Of Human Bondage (London, 1915) went for $38,400.
