Miller and Miller Auctions to Present 393 Lots of Petroliana, Soda, and Advertising on September 6
A restored Erie Cash Recorder Polly Gas pump, early McCormick and Ford advertising, and scarce wartime Coca-Cola signs lead 393 lots of fresh-to-market petroliana and general store advertising in two sessions on September 6.
New Hamburg, ON — September 2026 — Miller and Miller Auctions will present 393 lots of petroliana, soda, and general store advertising on September 6 in two sessions: a 256-lot live webcast beginning at 9:00 a.m. Eastern and a 137-lot online-only session opening at 6:00 p.m. Eastern. All estimates are in Canadian dollars.
The morning session’s leading lot is a professionally restored Erie Cash Recorder gas pump for Polly Gas, circa 1934-35, a Model 53 converted to double-sided display and standing 94.75 inches tall, estimated at C$9,000-12,000. A Pre-1902 McCormick Harvesting Machinery advertising poster, “The Ship of Progress,” measuring 40 by 30 inches, is estimated at C$6,500-9,000. A Canadian Ford Genuine Parts double-sided porcelain sign from the 1920s, 18 by 27.75 inches, is estimated at C$3,500-5,000.
Two Canadian tobacco pocket tins anchor the advertising category: a 1920 Torpedo Short Cut Tobacco pocket tin from Rock City Tobacco Co. of Quebec, estimated at C$3,500-5,000, and a Taxi Crimp Cut Tobacco pocket tin, circa 1910-20, from the Imperial Tobacco Company of Canada, estimated at C$3,000-4,000. A Canadian Texaco six-foot double-sided porcelain service station sign from 1946-59 carries an estimate of C$3,000-3,500.
Coca-Cola highlights include a five-piece framed Women in Uniform military cardboard sign set from 1942-45, measuring 23.25 by 48.5 inches, estimated at C$3,000-3,500; a Silhouette Girl two-piece tin door pull sign from 1943-46, measuring 12 by 35 inches, estimated at C$1,400-1,600; and a Canada Dry “Take Home a Carton” rolled-edge die-cut tin door sign from 1940-48, 13.5 by 3.5 inches, estimated at C$900-1,200.
