The blue gingham dress that Judy Garland wore when she portrayed Dorothy Gale in the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz sold for $480,000 at an auction held Nov. 9-10 by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, Calif. Also, Steve McQueen’s racing jacket went for $50,000; the purple skirt worn by Marilyn Monroe on location in Canada for the film River of No Return also fetched $50,000; John Belushi’s Blues Brothers sunglasses earned $16,640; and the Julie Andrews dress from The Sound of Music rose to $38,400. Prices include a 20 percent buyer’s premium.
