Gavels ‘n’ Paddles Recent Auction Results From Near & Far Occupational daguerreotype, $17,550, Kaminski Auctions
A ¼ plate occupational daguerreotype with full leather case of a young photographer sitting beside his camera sold for $17,550 at a two-evening Photography Sale held Oct. 3-4 by Kaminski Auctions in Beverly, Mass. Also, a ¼ plate daguerreotype of an outdoor scene, an old mill possibly in Herkimer, N.Y., in a fancy thermoplastic frame, breezed to $9,360; and a rare outdoor view of Pres. Abraham Lincoln before the State House in Philadelphia at an 1861 flag raising, by T. S. Hacker, made $6,250. Prices include a 17 percent buyer’s premium.
