An Alexander Calder hand-hammered sterling silver brooch sold for $22,140 at an Early Fall Fine Estates Auction held September 16 by Woodbury Auction in Woodbury, CT. Also, a small framed woodcut print by Edna Hopkins hammered for $9,840; an English grain painted folk art cupboard rose to $5,700; a four-piece sterling silver tea/coffee set brought $3,565; a set of eight yew wood Windsor arm chairs knocked down for $4,200; and a Jose Formoso Reyes Nantucket friendship basket topped out at $2,935. Prices include a 17 percent buyer’s premium.
