Ken’s Korner: Artwork hanging in school worth $500K

Art experts have determined that an unassuming painting of a doorway that had been hanging on a public school administrator’s wall in Pittsburgh is actually a missing work by the French impressionist Henri Le Sidaner, worth about $500,000. The painting, titled Interior, is 40 inches by 32 inches. It was acquired by The Friends of Art – a Pittsburgh nonprofit – after it was displayed in the 1933 Carnegie International art exhibit. The school system plans to auction the painting to help fund its art education program.
