Gavels ’n’ Paddles Recent Auction Results from Near and Far By Ken Hall An exquisitely detailed, circa-1910 Marklin carousel, crank or steam driven, sold for $218,500 at a Winter Auction held November 16-17 by Noel Barrett Auctions in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Also, an Althof Bermann hand-painted tin Santa in Sleigh, one of only two known examples considered 100 percent original, soared to $97,700; a Marklin PLM coupe-vent passenger train set with box chugged away for $46,000; and The Pittsburgh House (circa 1890), from the Toy Museum of Atlanta collection, gaveled for $18,400. Prices include a 15 percent buyer’s premium.
