Gavels ‘n’ Paddles Recent Auction Results From Near & Far By Ken Hall The Princie Diamond – a cushion-cut fancy intense pink Golconda diamond of 34.65 carats – sold for $39.323 million at a sale of Magnificent Jewels held Apr. 16 by Christie’s in New York City. It was a new world auction record for a Golconda diamond and the most expensive diamond ever sold at Christie’s and in the United States. Also, a rectangular-cut D color VVS1 diamond of 30.32 carats went for $4.436 million; and a marquise-cut D color WS2 diamond ring of 23.30 carats by Harry Winston hit $3.260 million. Prices include a 12 percent buyer’s premium.
