Two technological innovations are credited with profoundly changing life in the second half of the 19th century: steam and electricity. The development and application of steam engines and electricity to various tasks in the transportation and manufacturing process, in particular, ushered in the Second Industrial Revolution that carried us into the 20th century. In this edition of “All Things Collected,” we explore the stories behind two individuals – Alexander Graham Bell and Eliphalet Remington – and how their spark of innovation ignited progress and spawned generations of collectibles.
