Keith Haring mural, $3.86 million, Bonhams

An untitled mural known as The Church of the Ascension Grace House Mural (portion shown), by Keith Haring (American, 1958-1990), circa 1983-1984, oil-based house paint on a cement wall, sold for $3.86 million at a sale of postwar and contemporary art held Nov. 13 by Bonhams in New York City. It was a new world auction record for a Keith Haring mural. Also, Helen Frankenthaler’s Mica (1981) rose to $487,575; and Sam Francis’s Of the Rope Star (1973-1974) made $237,575. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
