The Journal of Antiques & Collectibles, a monthly, nationwide magazine for buyers, sellers, collectors and enthusiasts, has launched a new web site to support and promote the Brimfield Antique & Collectibles Shows that take place annually in May, July, and September in Brimfield, Massachusetts. GuidetoBrimfield.com, launched in February, provides news and information from show promoters and dealers, show schedules and maps, and local resources to help dealers and guests plan their trip. Visitors are also able to view and download a Guide to Brimfield Show Resource Directory published annually and for each show by The Journal of Antiques & Collectibles. GuidetoBrimfield.com will be updated regularly with show news as information becomes available.
In addition to providing useful information for show-goers and participants, GuidetoBrimfield.com features an historic look back at Gordon Reid’s Famous Antiques Flea Market, the start of Brimfield and the outdoor antiques flea market movement in the United States, with a reprinted article on Gordon Reid published in the May 1975 issue of Blair & Ketchum’s Country Journal, and a History Gallery of early show photos contributed by his family.
“Our goal is to use GuidetoBrimfield.com to create an online resource and history museum for the Brimfield shows,” says Maxine Carter-Lome, publisher of The Journal of Antiques & Collectibles. “We are a community that values the past in the items we salvage, preserve, collect and repurpose. This site promotes the experience that inspires new generations of buyers and collectors while sharing the stories and images that remind us that antiquing and collecting is a timeless passion and pastime.”
