A pair of slippers believed to have been worn by Marie-Antoinette, the wife of France’s Louis XVI, sold for $82,275 at a sale of “Historic Memories of Royal Families” held Oct. 17 by the Paris Drouot auction house in Paris. The size six slippers – green with ornate pink bands across them and featuring a silk bow – were given to the Austrian-born royal by a member of her court in 1775, Alexandre-Bernard Ju-Des-Rets. Also, a piece of fabric from the last dress Marie-Antoinette wore before she went to prison fetched $8,020.
