Mark L. Wahlberg, best known as the former host of TV’s “Temptation Island,” has been named the new host of the PBS series, “Antiques Roadshow.” He took over for former host Lara Spencer effective with the January 9 telecast. The announcement came as a surprise to some fans of the show, who had come to expect slow-paced, homespun hosts. Wahlberg, like his predecessors, opens and closes each program, and does field segments with appraisers in the host cities.
