Results of Recent Auctions From Near and Far

A printing of The Declaration of Independence by E. Russel, the authorized broadside for Massachusetts, sold for $1.2 million at a series of auctions held during Americana Week in New York City that ended Jan. 21st by Sotheby’s. Also, a Federal inlaid cherrywood and mahogany tall case clock by Nathan Lumbard, circa 1800, went for $471,000; a Wainscot armchair, circa 1640-1660, rose to $375,000; and a silver and copper “Indian” punch bowl with ladle, circa 1900-1915, made $312,500. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
