Gavels ’n’ Paddles Recent Auction Results from Near and Far By Ken Hall A bulbous-base vase done in shiny raspberry with multi-colored inclusions and gold trim (circa 1878-1880) sold for $5,463 at a Winter Glass Auction held January 26 by Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates in Mt. Crawford, Virginia. Also, a circa-1925 decorated free hand compote, iridescent colorless with opal hanging hearts, 9 3/4 inches tall (Imperial Glass Co.), changed hands for $3,738; and a holly amber covered sugar bowl executed in the golden agate color by Indiana Tumbler & Goblet Co. (circa 1908) hit $3,335. Prices include a 15 percent buyer’s premium.
