Ken’s Korner: Vast collection of shoe-related items
Darlene Flynn of Romoland, CA, is known as “The Shoe Lady,” but it’s not what you might think. Yes, she owns a lot of shoes, but it’s her massive collection of shoe-related items that earned her the nickname. Flynn has spent the last eleven years, and a staggering $500,000, collecting shoe-shaped furniture, shoe-themed art, clothing, teapots, soap, phones, porcelain and thousands of miniature shoe figurines. She set a world record in 2006 with 7,765 items in her home, but that number has since swollen to 16,400 pieces.
