Workers hired to renovate a 140,000-square-foot manor in southwest France and tear down a much smaller building on the same property somehow mixed them up and reduced the chateau to rubble. The residents of Yvrac, a sleepy French village in Bordeaux, were dumbstruck the men could have made such a mistake. The Chateau de Bellevue, with its grand hall capable of hosting 200 people, and a sweeping stone staircase, was the pride of the town. The owner, a Russian businessman, said he will build an exact replica of the lost manor on the same site.
